Boogergate...
Ladies, ladies, la-deees.. you love for your man to be a man, scratch, dig cheese, pick his nose? Yeah, that's what you all like right?? But maybe not so much on national television though..
Just in case you all missed it last night... Jets QB Mark Sanchez birthed a little thing i'd like to call "boogergate". During a Jets defensive stand, I guess he had a little boog action going on in his nose and couldn't resist retrieving it, then he commences to wipe it off on the coat of backup QB Mark Brunell. Little did Sanchez know, the cameras were watching... Kids all across New York will think twice before asking for that autograph without a little Purell handy..
Set Scene...
Kid (lets call him Jimmy) - "Mark Mark, I'm your biggest fan, will you sign my jersey??"
Mark - "Sure thing Jimmy, do you have a sharpie handy??"
Jimmy - "Yep, here you go Mark.. you're awesome man!!"
*Mark signs the jersey, best wishes Jimmy, Love Mark..*
Mark - "Alright Jimmy, here's your Sharpie back"
Jimmy - "Uhhh, no thanks Mark, you can keep it, even I know not to pick my nose, especially on National TV"

New American Idol.. Achille Lovle
Let the hilarity begin...
Last night, I was somewhat forced to watch American Idol, I have to admit, it's definitely a guilty pleasure.. Especially the auditions.. So far, i'd have to say my favorite is the lovely Achille Lovle.. For those who tuned in, and are scratching your head, like "is this guy serious? she stunk it up" yeah, I am serious! Who cares about the good singers, who wants to hear talented people sing?? I watch for the vocally challenged, those without pitch catching ability, the Kim Zolciak's of the world, get me?
Last night Ms. Lovle performed a Madonna song, I'm not a Madonna follower by any means, nor do I really know any of her songs, so let's say when I heard Achille start singing, I was truly lost.. Video of her audition follows below, get ready for cheek cramps via excessive laughter.
She said she's from the Ivory Coast, but after hearing her sing, I'm thinking Russia, maybe??

Another Magic Loss, to them...
Kevin Garnett, what can I say? I hate em... with all my heart.. so deep in hate I am..
Once again, we lose to the Celtics, who are the best TEAM in the NBA.. Emphasis on team because they work so well together, they communicate, they play hard... Not fun to watch nor have they a youthful cast, but all parts work together like a well oiled machine, a machine i'd like to take a sledgehammer to..
I can't necessarily pinpoint why I hate them so much.. maybe it's their uniforms? Maybe it's the way Kevin Garnett cusses every two seconds on camera (the only guy in the league who needs his mouth pixilated)? Maybe it's big gravy Davis, with his kiddish antics, and occasional drooling??
Bib anyone??
In order for the Magic to win a title, we have to beat the Celtics, flat out.. With last night's game, I think we showed that we can hang with them, Dwight matching KG's intensity, going toe to toe with him a few times, not backing down, but hanging with them for 47 minutes isn't good enough.. We need more from our supporting cast, Jameer HAS TO step up, over the last 4 games, the little guy has only put in 29 points collectively, not a math major, but that's a shade under 7.5 ppg.. Some will say Gil Arenas is dipping into his minutes, throwing him off.. In the words of Lee Corso "Not so Fast my friend!!" In those four games, he's averaged 33.2 minutes per game, with Gil only seeing the court for an average of 17 mpg during that same stretch.. So whats the problem?? On to my main man, Brandon Bass.. Who is still putting up fair numbers, but as of late, I've definitely noticed a dip in his energy, not really rebounding like normal, and for some reason, his shot is no longer falling at the same clip. I was speaking with a friend this morning, and we shared like ideologies when it comes to whats plaguing him. As of late we've noticed that he's totally stepped out of his "catch and shoot" comfort zone, more so driving and putting up EXTREMELY difficult, contested shots off the dribble. Shots that make him contort his body in awkward positions, often resulting in wild, hard off the backboard flings if you will. Brandon has gotta get back to that catch and shoot flow and all will be well.. Last but not least, my other main man, Hedo "Michael Jordan of Turkey" Turkoglu, his play has been somewhat foggy as of late, not good by any means, but not bad enough for us to complain about, mostly due to his great passing.. I'd like to see him become a little more aggressive when it comes to getting his own shot, drive to the basket, float one high off the glass like he used to, and if the shot doesn't fall, Dwight will be there to flush it down.
To Dwight, Ryan Anderson and J-rich , keep up the good work...
These guys are putting up great numbers.. Dwight has been solid as a rock, had a great game against the Celtics, which is always a good thing. Rhino is shooting a career high 41 percent from distance, and J-Rich on many nights has shown flashes of brilliance, knocking down treys with ease as well.
All in all, I believe we still have good momentum going. I say this because we lost heavily contested games, against quality ball clubs, on the road, panic not applicable.. We'll start another streak tomorrow against the Sixers, Go Magic!

MLK Day 2011
To all friends, no matter your color, religion or general beliefs, please consider taking a second out of your day, to picture a nation that exists with segregation, rioting and constant tension. After that moment has been taken, look outside your window, turn on the television, or even turn on the radio... Simple things we get to enjoy whenever/wherever we wish, like going to see a movie, or sitting at the bar to have a drink, there were people of color who fended off German Shepherds and dodged fire hoses, just for a chance to get to a theater or restaurant, only to be turned away.. Many pleasures in life we take for granted, I am in that fold as well.. But today, let's just take a second, a minute, out of our 24 hour day, to imagine a world where you can't go to a certain shopping mall, or stay in your desired hotel, simply because of your skin tone.. Not such a great place to exist in huh?
To all of our elders who have lived that struggle, who have fought for equality, for our Caucasian friends who marched alongside Dr. King, who took the chance of being ostracized by their peers, I respect you all..
Celebrate Dr. King's life today, remember his vision everyday..
**Something to smile about below, if that was too heavy, few lines from Coming To America**
Mr. Clarence - "You know sweets? I met Doctah Martin Lutha Kang in 1962 in Memphis Tennessee! I was walking down the street right? Man walk up and hit me in da chest right?? I fall on the ground right?? I look and I said Doctah Kang!!! He said, OOPS, I thought you was somebody else.."
:) Hope you all enjoyed the read, Happy MLK Day..

Gucci Mane or Ice Cream Mane??
Just had some thoughts on all the buzz around Atlanta rapper Gucci Mane's new face tat... Yeah, face tat.. Dude has a 6 inch ice cream cone tattooed on his right cheek! First off, kudos to him for being probably the toughest and/or drunkest, highest dude on earth, man I flip out when I get a pimple on my face that needs to be popped. Never could imagine how a face tat of that scale would feel.. But more importantly, what the hell was he thinking?? Whats the symbolism?? Before I get too critical, I do see how this may make sense (to him) the rim of the ice cream cone reads "BRRRRR" which is his trademark ad-lib, I get that.. but i'm lost after that.. Ask my family, I love Bacon, yes, BACON, but you WILL NOT see me with a tat of some applewood smoked bacon on my cheek, it ain't happening! See what happens when you get rich kids? and don't have to answer to anybody, no boss, no image requirements?? What a world we live in...
Can't wait to see him when he's 60, 70 years old.. those scoops of ice cream will be dripping, that cone will be cracked, and he'll be left with a milk shake on his face... BRRRRR!!
Later guys..
The weekend is upon us..
Just a few thoughts... Sports related, life related, randomly presented..
ESPN reported that former University of Michigan coach Rich Rodriguez took all of his old Michigan gear to the Salvation Army. Yes this is news, but what else is he going to do with 400 plus items that are adorned with the logo of his former exployer?? I'm sure his wife could use a couple of beat up tees as dust rags, but other than that, why keep anything?? Thats kinda like me wearing clothes an ex bought for me, an ex who dumped me publicly and replaced me within a matter of days, get the parallel??
Also reported by the people in Bristol, Blazers guard Brandon Roy is on deck for knee surgery, oh no, Sorry, I meant DOUBLE knee surgery?? In the words of Deandre Cole/Keenan Thompson WHAT UP WIT DAT?? We're talking about a guy who was Mr. Everything for The City of Roses, rising star, future of the franchise, and now, who knows if he'll ever be truly healthy again, or be the same player upon return.. It's kinda sad to be honest..clean imaged guy, loved by everybody, and now he has to fight back to get 100 percent, if at all possible.. Best of luck to B-Roy with the recovery, STOP HANGING OUT WITH GREG ODEN THOUGH!!! They must have mistakenly switched knee pads one day, and that Benjamin Button disease Oden is carrying seeped into Roy's pores..
Big Congrats to David Shaw for getting the head coaching gig at Stanford University, he's black, I think?? Yellow-ish, close enough.. We'll just use the Obama rule, half black = black.
Several sites, news outlets, have reported that the Knicks are now the frontrunners for Carmelo Anthony's services.. Confusion, Confusion, CONFUSION! I really wish that they would get this deal done already, damn.. I never ever seen this much talk, and speculation behind a trade, over such a long period of time, and the deal still isn't even close to being done. And if i'm not mistaken, last week, Melo's "could be/would be" teammate Amar'e Stoudemire said that they don't need Carmelo, now this week, he supposedly sent Carmelo a text saying "let's get it done" (as in Carmelo coming to NY) These guys I tell ya.. Make up your mind, and it's like high school with them.. Carmelo heard that Amar'e said that the Knicks didn't need him, and verbalized that in an interview a few days back, So I guess that prompted Amar'e to send this alleged text, (sigh)... Get this deal done already!
And what about Lebrons tweet? That wasn't sent by him directly, after the cavs embarrassing loss on Tuesday night when they were just a mere two points away from being Doubled up (112-57). In a nutshell, Lebron send out a tweet saying "karma is a b**ch" and some other religious laced stuff which doesn't flow with dropping the B-word. I wish he would own up to it, he's saying that he was sent a text/tweet from someone, and posted it himself.. DUDE! you're a grown man, filthy rich.. own up to it, if you wrote it claim it!! It's easy to forget that these guys are still young, and still have some growing up to do..
As a Magic fan, i've been hurt two nights in a row, Wednesday night watching them against New Orleans and last night against Oklahoma City, both very close, hard-fought games (though we undoubtedly deserved to lose against the Hornets). Comically to some..A Magic loss lingers with me, I have trouble sleeping that night, and at times, it can even spike my appetite for love making.. Pathetic I know, but wholeheartedly honest.. *I am so getting the ax when my lady reads this*
I'd like to take a minute to speak on the Ted Williams situation..The new media darling .. No doubt the guy has a great voice, phenomenal.. But I wish the media would stop calling him "golden voiced" I mean, are they gonna come out with a new James Bond movie? Instead of Goldeneye, it's gonna be Goldenthroat?? Latest news on him is that he's entering rehab, Well I say GREAT! Get cleaned up so you can do right with all the opportunities awaiting... And hopefully when he gets out, he'll make an investment into his image and get some veneers, some nice clothes, and he'll continue to be the steady media darling, and quite possibly be the person of the year for 2011 (great story if it pans out), my early vote.. He has the world at his fingertips now, he just has to walk the straight and narrow...
Hopefully you all enjoyed the read, this was my first shot, and most assuredly not the last..
Love and respect,
J. Slade
